The Sviatoshyn District Court of Kyiv has chosen a preventive measure for former Irpin mayor Oleksandr Markushyn — bail set at ₴323,000. The decision was made as part of a case concerning the write-off of a municipal boiler house.

The former mayor of Irpin faces three to six years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, Markushyn was served with a notice of suspicion. He is accused of abuse of office (Part 2, Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) in connection with the write-off of an old municipal boiler house that had been on the balance sheet of the Teploenergopostach utility company. The property later came into the possession of Markushyn’s assistant, and subsequently his godmother, Liudmyla Haina.
