The prosecutor’s office of the Kyiv region appealed to the Economic Court over an illegal garbage dump on the bank of the Buchanka River in Irpin. The court has already opened proceedings in the case.
According to an ITV source in the Irpin City Council, garbage began to be taken to the bank of Buchanka after the decision of the TEB and Emergency Commission, which was forged by Irpin ex-Irpin ex-Maser Oleksandr Markushyn. The prosecutor’s office is preparing to announce a notice of suspicion to Markushina.
Most members of the Irpin commission of the TEB and the National Assembly gave testimony about the forgery of this decision by Markushin.

According to the investigation, the landfill was formed after the de-occupation of the city and occupies more than 3.4 hectares. Studies have shown serious contamination: more than 1,000 times there was an excess of E. coli bacteria in the soils, pathogenic microflora and heavy metals were detected. The surface waters of the Bucha River are also contaminated.
Environmental damage is estimated at more than UAH 5 million. In the lawsuit, the prosecutor’s office asks:
- collect this amount from the Irpin City Council;
- recognize the illegal inaction of the local self-government body;
- to oblige to liquidate the dump;
- restore the soils and waters of the river.
As a reminder, Oleksandr Markushin is a defendant in two other criminal proceedings: in the case of illegal departure abroad and the theft of a communal boiler in the center of Irpin.
