Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn has yet to sign the resolutions to establish a department and a municipal institution for veterans’ affairs, which were approved by the City Council during a session on November 14. This was reported by the Council Secretary, Anzhela Makeeva.

“On November 14, at an extraordinary session of the Irpin City Council, deputies voted on three critical decisions for the veterans of Irpin:

  1. Establishing and approving the Regulations of the Veterans Policy Department of the Irpin City Council.
  2. Establishing and approving the Charter of the municipal institution ‘Irpin Center “Veterans’ Space”.’
  3. Approving the structure and staffing limits of the ‘Veterans’ Space.’ After the session, the mayor met with veterans and promised to sign all the resolutions promptly,” Makeeva stated.

However, the mayor did not sign these resolutions within the legally required timeframe.

“Unfortunately, Oleksandr Markushyn has once again lied publicly. He failed to sign these three resolutions on time as mandated by law. Nor did he veto them. I understand that for the mayor of Irpin, lying to the community has become a way of life and thinking. However, it’s disappointing that Markushyn dares to lie about addressing veterans’ issues,” Makeeva remarked.

Despite the deputies’ approval, the legal department is reportedly attempting to falsify the documents.

“When the mayor was asked to explain, we were met with vague excuses reminiscent of a student trying to justify unfinished homework, only to realize they’d been caught. Mr. Mayor, have you considered managing the city without deceiving deputies, veterans, and the families of fallen soldiers? Today, I’ve revealed how you’re attempting to falsify documents. Tomorrow, we might talk about where and how you ‘fought.’ You still have a chance to avoid total disgrace before the veteran community, despite already failing to explain why, during your tenure, no apartments or land plots have been allocated to veterans. We’ll be closely monitoring the official website of the Irpin City Council,” Makeeva added.
