The relevant criminal case No. 12025111040000044 was initiated by the Bucha District Police Department of the National Police in the Kyiv region. A source in the police informed ITV journalists about this.
It should be recalled that in January 2024, Markushyn appointed his advisor, Hennadii Yavorovskyi, as acting mayor during his absence instead of one of the deputy mayors. This order was illegal since an advisor cannot perform the duties of the mayor.
Yavorovskyi was not a deputy mayor, as deputy mayors can only be appointed by a decision of the city council, and the Irpin City Council had not made such a decision.
Earlier, media reports stated that Hennadii Yavorovskyi was a protégé of Markushyn’s former father-in-law, Oleksandr Badrudinov, the owner of an illegal landfill in the Borodianka community. Yavorovskyi’s name also appeared in a scandal surrounding Kyiv’s sports and entertainment complex “X-Park.” Activists accused him of attempting to destroy this facility, while the park’s founder accused him of demanding a bribe “for not interfering with its operation.”
